Wings & Wine, Canoe-More than Mudhens

See Fern Ridge birds from a 29-foot voyaging canoe.  You’ll paddle from Perkins Peninsula into Fern Ridge backwaters for close up birding from this stable canoe.  All paddling equipment provided.  Trip led by City of Eugene kayak staff and Corp of Engineers birding specialists.

Family Sunset Raft

Ages 8 & up

Paddle raft down the scenic Willamette River from Island Park to the River House and enjoy the golden hour as the sun sets on the horizon.  Your feet will get wet so wear appropriate footwear; a billed cap and sunglasses are recommended.  Preregistration is required.

Family Blackberry Raft

Family Overnight Raft Trip

Ages 6 & up NEW!

Spend the weekend rafting down and camping along the Willamette River.  This guided trip explores the nearby natural areas of the river.  All meals, rafting gear and guides provided; bring your personal camping gear.  Relax, enjoy and be ready for a unique family experience!  We’ll take care of the rest.

Try Surfing

Ages 13 & up

Beginning-intermediate surf instruction covers surfing fundamentals with a strong emphasis on ocean safety.  Must be able to swim and tread water.  You will be camping at the Oregon coast Friday and Saturday nights at a state park.

Rock Climbing: Community Climb Time at the Columns

It’s summertime, the rain has stopped and the rocks are dry!  Join the River House Outdoor Program and Willamalane Recreation for a day of rock climbing instruction.  Fine tune your climbing skills on Eugene’s local basalt columns.  Everyone is welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult.  Equipment is provided.  Drop-in only.

Join Dad or Mom on an adventure to the Spencer Butte Challenge Course! Climb up trees, walk across cables, and swing through the air! Sunset Tree Climb

First Friday Outdoor Baby Walk & Talk

First Saturday Park Walks

Explore the ecology and management of Eugene’s beautiful parks. Naturalists from the Outdoor Program at the River House will lead these gree interpretive walks. No need to register. It’s FREE!

Rock Climbing: Community Climb Time @ ATA

For families who want to do something extraordinary! Learn rock climbing basics, practice indoor climbing, and spend quality time together in a safe, supportive environment. Summer In The City – Skateboard Competitions

All Ages

All ages, all abilities!  Food, prizes, and music.  Youth under 18 must have parent present to register.  Registration is 4:00-5:00 pm, competition is 5:00-8:00 pm.  Helmets required at all times.  100% of proceeds will go to Skaters for Eugene Skate Parks to fund the Washington-Jefferson Skate Park.  Cash prizes donated by Northwest Community Credit Union – $150 for first place, $75 for second, and $25 for third in the 17 and up/sponsored category.  For more information call 541-682-6321.

Go to www.eugene-or.gov/recenroll.  You can browse program listings by activity and or/or location, then register and pay online.

To regster online you will need a VISA or MasterCard, and an account with a PIN number and client barcode number.  For information on how to set up an account online, go to www.eugene-or.gov/recenroll and click “Help/FAQ.”  Or, for step-by-step instructions, click “Start.” 

Alternatively, you may call any Eugene Recration facility during business hours and they will set up an account with you.

Call the River House Outdoor Program at 541-682-5329.  Have your VISA or MasterCard number handy.

Registration is ongoing and open to residents and non-residents on a first come basis.  Register early; many classes fill quickly. Classes may be cancelled if there are too few registrations.
