Garden camp gives kids organic opportunity

23 05 2010

Ready, set garden! Gardening season has just begun and the River House garden is underway. Vegetables are sprouting up and the corn will be here before long. Whether you have a garden at home or just enjoy fresh produce, send your children to the River House for gardening fun.

The campers (ages 6-10) will have an opportunity to learn how to compost to create eco-friendly, organic gardens. They will see how elements and critters of the garden work together to create produce. To stimulate the creative mind the campers will transform recycled material into garden art before moving inside to the kitchen.

Here, the children will concoct meals with freshly harvested food. After a week exploring the garden’s offerings, campers will be treated to a rafting trip down the Willamette River!
